About Me

Why Dog Training?

I believe that dog training is all about communication.

I have had a life-long passion for teaching, starting from when I led Sunday School classes when I was only 12 years old, and taught my pet rabbits how to walk on a leash to the post office to get the mail in the small Upper Peninsula town where I grew up. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in education., and have been homeschooling my kids since they were born.

I have always loved animals, and dogs hold a special place in my heart. I trained my first dog to achieve her obedience title when I was in high school, and I've been training dogs ever since.

Teaching people how to communicate with and understand their dogs is a natural combination of my love for teaching people plus my love for dogs. I love learning the lessons of perseverance, problem-solving, and empathy that my dogs teach me, and I love seeing many positive character qualities develop in other people as they learn to train their dogs.

I believe in using a continuous-progress model of education, taking you and your dog from where you are now, and helping you move forward in your training.

As a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed, I have been tested by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and I maintain my certification through constantly learning. I hope you and your dog will become life-long learners too!
